Crafty Vaporizer Review

German manufacturer Storz and Bickel recently created the portable hybrid convection vaporizer known as the Crafty. This same company released a portable vaporizer known as the Mighty, as well as a desktop vaporizer known as the Volcano, and a plug-in vaporizer known as the Plenty.

The vaporizer now known as the Crafty is definitely a great choice for a number of different reasons. For starters, it’s portable, it’s discrete, the vapor quality is off the charts, and it’s also really easy to use. Even if you’re brand-new to vaping, you’ll be able to figure out how to use this device without any trouble even if you’ve never practiced on it before. You cannot make that claim when talking about other portable vaporizers.

I truly give this vaporizer very high marks – like 4 ½ stars out of 5 – because it truly is an incredible portable vaporizer. Throughout this review, I’ll take a closer look at the features and other benefits. You can then decide if it’s the right portable vape to meet your needs.

At the time of this writing, the Crafty is currently selling for $279, which is a fair price for such a potent and effective device. To pick yours up today, please click here to place your order.

A favorite feature of mind is the customization and additional control provided to users via the Crafty app. This app is available to iPhone and android users and it gives you control over the brightness of the LED display, whether or not you want vibration notification options turned on, and it even lets you control two temperature settings. Even better, the app helps you save a lot of herb by setting notifications on your phone to vibrate, and this feature isn’t even annoying at all like you might think it would be.

Also on the app, you’ll be able to look at some of your stats like the total hours you’ve used it and other fun stats. Even better, the app shares information about ideal vaping temperatures and other vaping materials to use. It really is a valuable tool to have in your vaping arsenal.

Concealment, Portability, & Size

The device’s dimensions are 1.3 inches deep, 4.3 inches high and 2.2 inches wide. And the device is relatively light since it only weighs 4.8 ounces which is roughly 136 g. Better still, it’s very easy to conceal this device because it fits snugly in the palm of your hand and it will fit comfortably in your purse, hoodie sweatshirt, or even the pocket of your jeans. When compared to other devices, the Pax 3 is more portable because there is a bit of bulkiness to the Crafty. But on the plus side, the Crafty is simple to clean and a heck of a lot easier to use.

Temperature Options & Heating Element Information with the Crafty

There are two different heat settings available with the Crafty. The default heat setting is set up for 356°F. The second setting, known as the boost, is set for 383°F. No matter what the temperature happens to be, you can change the temp settings on the app from 104° to 410° at any time.

It takes about two minutes to heat the Crafty to 365°F. This definitely isn’t the fastest portable vaporizer on the market, but it’s definitely very consistent which is good for those long and aggressive draws. Plus the vibration feature is also great because it tells you exactly when it finishes heating up which is a nice added touch.

User Instructions, Chamber Size, and Packing Techniques

It’s possible to pack .25 g of dry herbs into the chamber of the Crafty. If the grind is very fine, you could probably squeeze in .30 but it’s definitely not good to over pack it because draw resistance will increase.

It’s also important to note that consistency is the name of the game with the Crafty because it is very consistent. The results are great whether it’s fully packed, half packed, packed tight, or packed loose. Some vaporizers are only really effective when the chamber is fully packed, so it’s nice to know the Crafty works well even if it’s only partially packed.

The top of the chamber has a cooling unit that works well. The vapor is very cool prior to it touching your lips. The vapor from the device is also the coolest and smoothest of any that I’ve tried of this type.

Charging Options, Charging Times, & Battery Life

This device has a rechargeable lithium ion internal battery. The battery is not replaceable and it lasts on average for about 45 minutes of continuous use. This amounts to roughly 4 bowls.

It takes around two hours for the Crafty to completely recharge. It also has partial pass-through charging, which gives you a chance to use the device even if the battery life is only at about 20%.

The Crafty battery life certainly isn’t the best when compared to other options. With a USB charger, you can charge the device just about anywhere which is certainly nice. And if you’d like to recharge it on the go, you can buy an external battery pack from Amazon for about $10-$30.

Comparing the Crafty to the Mighty and Other Portable Vaporizers

In a comparison between the Mighty and the Crafty, the biggest differences are battery life and size. The Mighty can preheat quicker than the Crafty, and it even holds the temperatures better which is especially true in cold weather.

Heavy users prefer the Mighty because they feel it is more reliable. For those intending to vape more than five bowls a day, you’re probably better off choosing the Mighty.

If size doesn’t really matter, or you’re looking for a portable vaporizer mostly for your personal needs, you’ll probably prefer the Crafty. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a device with better battery life, the Mighty seems like it will be a better choice.

All in all, I really like the Crafty for a few different reasons. The vibration notifications on the smart phone app are very convenient. The size fits perfectly in the palm of my hand in the device is very discreet. The USB charging system is easy to use and I can basically plug it in anywhere. And having the option to check stats and other things on my phone makes this a very practical device that I can take with me anywhere.

When compared to other vaporizers, I definitely liked the Pax 3 best out of all the portable options. You get great session times, the size is ideal, and it’s very easy to conceal. Plus the Pax 3 is very sleek and easy to store no matter where you go. Or if you’re looking for a portable vaporizer with replaceable batteries, the Davinci IQ is a great choice.

Filling Aid & Accessories Information

This device is sold with accessories for cleaning including replacement screens and seals as well as a cleaning brush. They also give you the new filling aid and a grinder which makes it super simple to load the Crafty.

The device also comes with a two-year warranty. This is much less than the average 10 year warranty of other portable vaporizer devices.

Final Thoughts

I currently like this portable hybrid vaporizer better than any of the other vaporizers I’ve reviewed. I give it a full 4 ½ out of 5 stars.

In a perfect world, they will improve the warranty and the battery life. But on the other side of the coin, it’s really convenient, easy to conceal, the perfect size, and it’s easier to use than any other portable vaporizer available today.

Pick up the Crafty online today. They ship it discreetly; have great prices, and much more.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my crafty vaporizer review. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask them in the comments.

Update Here it is August 21 2021, and I still haven’t had my original problem (broken plastic on Crafty, which I originally wrote to you guys about), repaired or replaced by Storz and Bickel. Its been about two months since I first contacted them. The process at Storz and Bickel is always the same, seems to be automated,. You contact ” customer support ” they tell you to submit an RMA, you do that, then you get a canned email saying they are sending a shipping box, put your crafty in the box and send it back to us…then after a couple weeks, they send you an email, so you can ” rate their customer service ” even though the original problem hasn’t been taken care of . I have yet to receive this shipping box they keep saying that they are sending me, even though they have my correct address. I have been through this same process four times for the same issue, and its still not fixed or replaced. I was tired of getting the run around from Storz and Bickel, on this issue, so repaired the crafty myself so that I could at least use it. I thought I was done trying to get my warranty honored by S&B. Today the on/off switch on my crafty stopped working, it won’t turn on, even though the battery is fully charged. I can’t even use it now. I don’t even feel like dealing with Storz and Bickel anymore, after all the runaround they have been giving me, might just toss the crafty, and chalk it up as a lesson learned. After reading all of the high ratings for Storz and Bickel products, and the Crafty in particular, I bought one from you guys, you guys are excellent, but I will never buy another Storz and Bickel product, in my opinion their crafty is an inferior product, and their ” customer support ” is almost non=existant. Thanks
