Today on Emmy® Award-winning daytime TV show The Doctors, a look into the fastest-growing consumers of marijuana:  senior citizens. These ‘senior stoners’ are using cannabis to relieve pain and combat symptoms of chronic illnesses like Parkinson’s and Arthritis as well as improve sleep and appetite.

In their segment, The Doctors visit Southern California’s Laguna Woods, one of the biggest retirement communities in the US, and accompany some residents on one of their monthly ‘field trips’ to a dispensary. These seniors are empowering and educating themselves on the medicinal use of marijuana and taking charge of their health. While not a cure-all, they report improved well-being and a better quality of life.

Chief Medical Officer of Canna-Centers Dr. Bonni Goldstein joins the panel to share the results her patients have achieved through the use of cannabis – many of them have been able to get off opioids, sleeping pills and depression and anxiety medications. “It needs to be in the toolbox of every doctor now” she says. “doctors are free to talk to their patients about medical cannabis as long as they don’t misrepresent anything. I think many doctors think they’ll put their license at risk if they talk to their patients about this, but they will not. We are free to speak about it with our patients.”
