It seems as if Australia’s government has taken a page out of the United States’ antiquated playbook of propaganda by the looks of the country’s newly launched anti-weed ad campaign.
I’ll be the first to admit that Australia’s new public service announcements geared toward keeping kids off weed are pretty humorous. But viewing the ads as a highly-functioning cannabis consumer, my intelligence was greatly insulted.
In fact, I’ve never encountered a toker of the trees that can’t tell the difference between a shaker of salt and a bowl of salad. (See attached video.)
Yes, dumb people do smoke weed. But I don’t buy into the biased, bureaucratic spin that smoking weed makes you stupid.
That being said, I don’t believe anyone under the age of 18 should use cannabis unless they’re doing so for legitimate medical purposes. Do yourself a solid and secure your station in life before deciding to use recreational substances of any kind.
But I digress.
Back to the painfully offensive ad campaign.
The message the Australian government is so grossly attempting to portray is that “You’re Worse On Weed”, and it’s poorly driven home by the ad campaign’s mascot (for a lack of better terminology) the “Stoner Sloth”.
