Getting your body’s motor up and running in the morning can prove to be a daunting task. And opting for the traditional cup-o-Joe coupled with whatever snack cake that is the least stale is a less than stellar way to start your day.

So why not select a healthy alternative that’s not only nutritious and delicious, but can also be prepared quickly and easily?

We have the perfect solution for the undernourished go-getter that would rather hit the snooze a few more times as opposed to jumping out of bed to prepare a balanced breakfast.

Behold! The beloved breakfast smoothie!

This recipe can be ready to go in a matter of minutes, leaving you plenty of time to hit the bong before having to hit the highway to hell. (You know, the road to work.)

Whatcha gonna need!

1- Blender or Smoothie machine

1/2- cup frozen blueberries

1- apple, washed, cored and sliced into chunks

1- banana, peeled (duh! unless unpeeled is the way you roll, of course)

1 and a 1/2- cups coconut water, chilled

3- tablespoons hemp protein powder

2- cups kale, chopped (I use two small handfuls)

2- tablespoons of honey (preferably local)

1- teaspoon chai seeds

Whatcha gotta do!

Blend, drink and enjoy!

Place all the ingredients in your blender or smoothie machine.

Pulse a few times on the Liquefy setting.

Then switch to full Liquefy until you reach the desired consistency. (I run mine approximately 90 seconds)

If the mixture is not smooth enough for your taste, merely add a little more coconut water at a time and continue blending until satisfied.
