Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl is a cancer survivor and also the first sitting elected official in the United States to publicly admit to being a medical cannabis patient. He was on HuffPost Live on Tuesday (full video below) to discuss medical marijuana and other issues, and he took the opportunity to rip into President Obama’s policy on cannabis.
“First he kind of acknowledged medical marijuana, kind of giggled about it, and helped create all these illegal ones [dispensaries] that came up in our city,” said Rosendahl about the President.
Then came the crackdown.
“He came in with all the right energy and then, I feel, betrayed me on every step of the way,” said Rosendahl.
Many patients in this country feel the same way Councilman. Why a supposedly “progressive” President like Barack Obama would attempt to wipe out medical marijuana is something advocates have been struggling with for a couple of years now. Obama betrayed millions of patients in this country, and the sad thing is, he is going to get a free pass for it. No consequences at all, riding off into the sunset after two terms.
