We all know support for marijuana legalization has been growing, but many might not know that it has been growing due to increased support from women. As mothers and grandmothers, women are slower to accept marijuana after 75 years of being told it will destroy the lives of their children and grandchildren. But women are coming around as well.

Colorado, and the multi-state effort to legalize marijuana in November needs you now more than ever.  In Colorado especially, polls are showing an encouraging growth in support for Amendment 64 among women (from 49% support in September, to 50% support in October), but female support still trails their male counterparts by 5% points.  Fact: this election will be decided by the female vote.  Marijuana can only be legalized if we have a majority of support among women.

These are impressive numbers considering that at least 70% of medical marijuana users in Colorado are men. Even women who don’t personally have experience with medical marijuana see what a benefit further legalization can be.

The truth cannot be contained forever, no matter how much propaganda is piled on top of it. The walls of marijuana prohibition are crumbling, but activists need to keep swinging the hammers.
