Washington’s I-502 Holds Big Lead In New Poll

In a new poll out of Washington state, I-502, a major marijuana law reform measure that will be on the statewide ballot this fall, has a large lead as we head into the heat of the political campaign season.
The poll, conducted by SurveyUSA, shows 57% of respondents saying they would vote for I-502, while 34% say they would not, with 9% undecided. A previous poll by SurveyUSA showed 55% voting “yes” and 32% voting “no,” which may indicate that the controversy surrounding I-502 among the cannabis community is having little effect, at least so far.
The gap enjoyed by I-502 is much larger than the one for Amendment 64 in a new poll out of Colorado. Of course, nothing is decided by polls and it is up to advocates in every state to work as hard as possible for the measures they want to see passed. Polls can be a guidepost, but nothing is decided until election day and which side can get out the most votes.
