Voters In MA Overwhelmingly Support Ballot Measure To Legalize Medical Marijuana The 420 Times Staff August 23, 2012 Activism, Exclusive Web Content, Medical Marijuana News, Politics, The War On DrugsA new poll in Massachusetts from Public Policy Polling shows overwhelming support for Question 3, the ballot measure to legalize medical marijuana in the state, set to be voted on this fall. When answering the question “Question 3 would eliminate state criminal and civil penalties for the medical use of marijuana by qualifying patients. If the election was today, would you vote yes or no on Question 3,” fifty-eight percent said “yes” while only 27% said “no” and 15% were undecided.A poll taken in late March of this year had support at 53-35%, which means momentum is clearly with medical marijuana supporters in Massachusetts. A notoriously liberal state like MA should have little trouble passing a solid medical marijuana bill, especially with polls numbers this good toward the tail end of summer. In fact, MA remains one of the few northeastern states that does not have legal protections for medical marijuana patients. This will likely be rectified in November, but only as long as activists and supporters in the state keep the pedal to the floor between now and then in terms of effort and spreading the word.– Joe Klare– make sure you check out our brand new Forums and our “Stop The Ban in L.A.” Facebook page!
