Speaking Up For A Fellow Cannabis Warrior

Many of you know the story of Robert Platshorn, the longest-serving federal marijuana prisoner in history. Many also know that even though he has served his time under federal law, the feds are not done harassing him.

420times 000011047279XSmall1 150x150 Speaking Up For A Fellow Cannabis WarriorMr. Platshorn, aka “The Black Tuna,” recently sent an email to The 420 Times, alerting us to a nationwide phone rally on his behalf, organized by People United for Medical Marijuana. He forwarded us an email from Kim Russell, founder and chairperson of PUFMM, which details the phone-in rally.

It is time to show support for freedom of speech. One of our own is being persecuted for exercising this first amendment right.

Many of you know Robert Platshorn, director of the Silver Tour. This 69 year old fire cracker travels around the country educating seniors about the benefits of medical marijuana and has created the show “Should Grandma Smoke Pot?”.

He is doing such a great job that the Feds are trying to stop him. He was released 3 years ago after spending 30 years in federal prison for smuggling marijuana. The parole commission recently decided that he will no longer be allowed to travel outside of Florida spreading this message of good health. He was scheduled to go to Chicago to speak in front of the American Bar Association and the Seattle Hemp Fest. These types of engagements are how Bobby puts food on the table.

So, we need your help to send a message loud and clear to the Feds.

On Monday, August 20, 2012 from 8 a.m. to noon eastern standard time, we are organizing a nationwide phone rally. Please call the US Parole Commissioner, Isaac Fulwood Jr. at 202-346-7000 and say something along these lines:

“I am calling to ask the commissioner to please discharge Robert Platshorn. His time has been served. 30 years for a non-violent crime is cruel and unusual punishment. Now, he is not allowed to exercise his freedom of speech. This is unconstitutional. I don’t want my tax payer dollars used to monitor him. Please let Robert live out his few remaining years as a free man.”

Post events all over the social networking websites. We are working with all of the other marijuana organizations to make a huge impact. Please be sure to put this one in your calendar and make the call on Monday.

Thanks for your support.

Robert Platshon is hurting absolutely no one and has served his time. All he seeks to do is bring the message of medical cannabis to senior citizens. If you stand with him and his right to freedom of speech.
