U.S. House Votes “No” On Defunding Federal MMJ Attacks

Late last night the United States House voted no – by a vote of 262 to 163 – on the Hinchey-Rohrabacher Amendment that would have cut off the funding for the Justice Department to attack medical marijuana in states where it is legal.
Twenty eight Republicans joined 135 Democrats in voting for the amendment. A full list of who voted can be found here, and if you disagree with the way your representative voted you should let them know of your displeasure.
While there are some bright spots in the Congress like Jared Polis and the sponsors of the amendment, medical marijuana advocates must face the fact that little help will be forthcoming from the feds in the near future. It is shaping up to be a long, tough battle between the states and the federal government on who decides whether or not medical marijuana is legal.
