Idaho’s Crazy Marijuana Laws

We all know there are some weird laws in every state, but most of them are amusing. However, the marijuana and “paraphernalia” laws in Idaho are not the least bit amusing.

For instance, being present while someone else smokes weed can get you 3 months in jail. A marijuana pipe – without marijuana – can get you up to a year.

Selling pipes, bongs, grinders, and kief boxes in Idaho is a felony worthy of nine years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

420times 000015159083XSmall 150x150 Idahos Crazy Marijuana LawsYet a man recently convicted in Idaho of beating his baby to death got 3.5 years. Three and a half years! If he would have just smoked weed around his baby instead of killing it he could have gotten 5 years. That’s right, he could have been sentenced to more time for smoking marijuana around his baby than he did for killing it.

And God forbid if he would have been selling bongs.

In other words, Idaho is not a place for cannabis users to visit, much less live in. If you need to drive through the state for some reason, drive around it.

    Hi, i literally just made this account to comment as i in fact to live in idaho. Now the laws here are ridiculous, no doubt, and the cops, yeah there pretty persistent about imprisoning harmless offenders. But hey, as long as you dont do it in public you will be pretty alright. Do it in your own house and your own property only. They really can’t do anything that way. Just keep it in private and you’ll be fine

    Exactly and this should apply to every one in every state legal or not. KEEP A LOW PROFILE, DON’T FLAUNT IT AND IF IT’S LEGAL IN YOUR STATE, DON’T TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE LAW AND GROW OVER YOUR LIMIT OR WITHOUT BEING IN A LOCKED FACILITY. FOLLOW THE LAW AND YOU WON’T BE BOTHERED.

    Come on! You people are are ultimately going to be responsible for the demise of this great nation. Smoked marijuana has no medical value at all. It is actually worse for you than tobacco. The US has 6% of the wolrd’s population, using 66% of all of the illegal substances manufactured. You’re right, maybe we all just need to get high, that will make it easier for us to cope with our fall from first world to third world status. Stay out of Idaho.

    Idahoan, your ignorance is embarrassing. I am sad to share such a great state with you. Get your facts straight. Do even 10 minutes of unbiased research and you will find there can be great medical benefit as a result of marijuana use. And by the way, smoking is not the only way it can I be used. Let go of your dogmatic, fearful, selfish, judgmental attitude maybe even take a “trip” over to one of our more forward thinking neighbor states and you may just find yourself a little more relaxed about how others choices in medication. Who knows you might even find you’ve been believing a lie.

    im an idahoan, i hate idaho, and idahoan has a point i dont think pot is very useful when smoked but certain strains are very useful for chronic pain
    when eaten. i have high anxioty and clinical depression and
    ive noticed when i smoke one night the next day im more chilled out, but kinda stupid,

    you do realize that tobacco increases your chances of cancer by 68% you dumbass and pot? only 6.00% about the same amount if you eat some foods and some strains can stop the grow of some aggressive cancers, partially help with glaucoma, can help with some cases of depression and scientists have made a synthetic compound in the last 6 months from pot that can stop the growth of all cancers or something close to it. so get your facts straight
