In the video below three retired drug warriors discuss The War on Drugs and its failure. But they reveal how it goes beyond a simple failure to a dangerous and harmful policy.
For instance, former LAPD Deputy Chief Stephen Downing relates how the infamous Crips and Bloods gangs were very small before President Nixon started The War on Drugs and how rising drug prices from increased prohibition fueled the incredible growth of the gangs.
Its really sad to think of the innocent people who have died in gang warfare, the children hit by stray bullets or revenge. All because the federal government decided to wage war on its own people.
