Pat Robertson Supports Marijuana Decriminalization Joe March 7, 2012 Activism, Exclusive Web Content, Politics, The War On Drugs On a recent episode of his television show – “The 700 Club” – evangelist Pat Robertson made headlines by coming out in support of decriminalizing marijuana laws. Saying, “I just think it’s shocking how many of these young people wind up in prison and they get turned into hard-core criminals because they had a possession of a very small amount of controlled substance,” Robertson blamed “liberals” for the country’s drug laws. While liberals certainly stood by and let the laws be enacted, we have conservatives to thank for the War on Drugs and its escalation. “It’s time we stop locking up people for possession of marijuana,” Robertson continued. “We just can’t do it anymore.” As nutty as Pat Robertson is, he is also a conservative, religious man, the anthesis of what you would expect a decriminalization supporter to be. Which shows how little support is left for draconian marijuana laws, and how broad-based the support is for a more common sense approach. Lives are being destroyed for absolutely no reason. More people everyday are saying enough is enough, people from all walks of life. – Joe Klare Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
