A new National Geographic documentary series called “Drugs, Inc.” debuted last night, and one of the illegal drugs they cover is marijuana.

The episode – which can be seen below in its entirety – goes in-depth into the history of medical marijuana in California and covers the basics of why cannabis is helpful for many people.

As cannabis becomes more of a mainstream issue in pop culture – TV, radio, movies, music and internet – the easier full legalization will become. Even though alcohol is much more harmful and dangerous than marijuana, it is accepted in society as a viable form of recreation thanks to its place in pop culture.

It is time for marijuana to be widely accepted as well.
