Some of you might remember the 1999 movie “The Blair Witch Project,” a supposed “real” horror movie that did pretty well at the box office.

It seems the woman who was one of the stars of that  movie – Heather Donahue – retreated to the country after her stint in the spotlight and eventually became a cannabis grower. She has written a new book about her life called “Growgirl: How My Life After ‘The Blair Witch Project’ Went to Pot.”

After becoming a medical marijuana patient in California in 2007, Heather said she soon found herself growing the plant, becoming an “avid gardener.” She gave up growing however when she decided to write a book about it.

And when it comes to the question of marijuana legalization, Heather seems to lean toward being in favor.

While she’s afraid corporations could overrun “mom-and-pop” growers, she believes it should be made available to everyone.

“Cannabis has been intertwined with human culture for thousands of years,” she said. “It’s here to stay as medicine, as an industry, and as a component of the culture. The idea that such a hearty, useful plant could be legislated out of existence seems pretty foolish, especially in retrospect.”
