Reader Poll Results: Should Ron Paul Run As An Independent?

Last month we asked our readers – among which reside a great many supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul – whether Dr. Paul should run as an independent should he be denied the GOP Presidential nomination.
The poll received almost 1,000 votes and overwhelmingly respondents said “yes,” 87% in fact. It just goes to show the solid support that comes from Ron Paul’s supporters.
It may be a moot point since he continues to creep up in the polls for the GOP nomination. But one has to wonder just how far the Republican establishment will go to keep Dr. Paul down. It also remains to be seen how many independents and other non-Republicans will participate in GOP primaries (if they are allowed).
One thing is certain. As other GOP hopefuls rise and fall, Ron Paul continues his steady climb in support. The more others try to paint him as a fringe candidate, the more people see just how much they agree with his philosophy.
Should Dr. Paul need to run as an independent candidate, it’s safe to say he will have the support of much of our readership.
