Many of our readers may remember rapper Wiz Khalifa’s arrest late last year at East Carolina University on marijuana charges. On Wednesday the North Carolina prosecutor working on the case dropped the felony marijuana charges stemming from the arrest.

On that night last November police found marijuana on Wiz’s tour bus, leading to himself and several others catching marijuana trafficking and possession charges. Pitt County District Attorney Clark Everett says he dropped the trafficking charge because only 2 ounces of cannabis was found on the bus, well below the ten pounds needed to justify a trafficking charge.

The rest of the charges were dropped when three of the men on the bus with Wiz admitted the marijuana was theirs and plead guilty to misdemeanor possession charges.

Seems like an incredibly drawn out process for some guys on a bus with a couple ounces of weed. If this is the kind of time wasted on all possession cases – and not just those involving celebrities – it’s no wonder our resources are stretched so thin.
