Breaking campaign promises is a tried and true tradition of Presidents of The United States, going back many decades. Of course, that doesn’t make it right. Besides, what was that word President Obama kept repeating like he was doing a “Rain Man” impression during his campaign? Oh, yeah. “Change.”

Yet President Obama promised not to use federal resources to circumvent state medical marijuana laws. Campaign promise broken. Just like every other President. “Change” successfully averted.

420timesmedical marijuana 2 small President Obama: Keep Your Promise To Medical Marijuana PatientsBut President Obama is up for re-election, so if he is ever going to be forced to keep his promise, now is the time. Some say he is waiting for his second term, but that’s ludicrous. There is no one with the power to stop him from issuing an executive order telling the Justice Department to cease and desist their raids. Very simple, yet we still hear complaints about how the evil Republicans are stopping poor Barry from doing what he wants.

President Obama lied, and now is the time to call him on it. No more excuses. If you voted for change, make President Obama give you change, not a bunch of empty words.

The folks at StopTheDrugWar.org sent out an email alert today, urging citizens to take action and tell President Obama to stop the federal raids on legal medical marijuana operations.

In March 2008, candidate Obama promised not to use Dept. of Justice resources to block state medical marijuana laws. But President Obama has broken that promise:

  • The Obama DOJ is raiding marijuana dispensaries at twice the rate the Bush DOJ did.
  • US Attorneys have sent misleading, threatening letters to state legislatures considering dispensary laws.
  • DOJ memo sent late last month, claiming to “clarify” an earlier memo that supported states rights to medical marijuana, in fact backtracked on it. While the federal government is not targeting patients themselves, they are making it more difficult for them to obtain marijuana legally and safely.

Please write to President Obama to express your concern and disappointment over his broken promise. The future of medical marijuana depends on people like you across the country speaking up and putting pressure on the president to keep his promise to respect state medical marijuana laws – so please use our web site to send President Obama a letter today. When you’re done, please use our tell-a-friend form to spread the word. You can call the White House Comment Line on the phone too, at (202) 456-1111, to make an even greater impact.

“The Obama DOJ is raiding marijuana dispensaries at twice the rate the Bush DOJ did.” Think about that. You’d be hard pressed to find many cannabis users in this country who don’t believe that George W. Bush was a card-carrying member of the Nazi Party, yet Barack has taken jack-booted thuggery to a whole new level.

Must we continue to stand for this? If you’re tired of the constant demonizing of medical marijuana by this government, make your voice heard. Don’t let President Obama go into another campaign without keeping the promises of the first. Call or write today!
