The second inductee into our Cannabis Hall of Fame is cannabis activist, former seed seller, and current political prisoner Marc Emery. For his tireless effort in the realm of marijuana law reform and his ultimate sacrifice in the face of government persecution, we recognize him as one of the most influential and important cannabis activists in history.

But who is Marc Emery? Activist? Husband? Martyr? From freemarc.ca:

Marc Emery is a Canadian businessman and political activist who owned and operated Cannabis Culture Magazine, Pot-TV, the BC Marijuana Party, and Marc Emery’s Cannabis Culture Headquarters (previously the BCMP Bookstore, and HEMP BC before that.)

He was also the world’s most famous marijuana seed retailer until the US Drug Enforcement Administration and Canadian law enforcement arrested him in Canada and shut down Marc Emery Direct Seeds in July 2005.

Marc is currently imprisoned in D. Ray James Correctional Institution in Georgia state after being extradited on May 20th, 2010 by the Canadian government. He was sentenced on September 10th in Seattle federal court to 5 years in prison for “distribution of marijuana” seeds.

As of this writing, Marc’s supporters are trying to get him transferred to his home country to serve his sentence.

When contacted by The 420 Times about her husband’s induction, the lovely Jodie expressed her feeling that it was a “wonderful idea,” and thanked us for Marc’s inclusion.

Marc gave much of his life, and ultimately his freedom for our cause. He is a warrior of the highest caliber, and it is up to us to make sure his sacrifices have not been in vain.

Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. I drew up a very cool poster for the cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/vote-teapot-2011.html Drop in and let me know what you think!

Everybody has their strong points and their mistakes. Emery’s Vaporizer Lounge has the biggest plastic bags you could ever want to vaporize your nuggets in. One baggie full and you’re vaporized out. Ha Ha. Gotta love it.

Marcs only mistake was selling Americans all those seeds using Mastercards and Visas. Those cards are tooo easy for the DEA to trace. Lots of people including Marc got locked up because of a natural plant, and a credit card. oops!

i don’t think it was the credit card orders. lol. marc emery is the most outspoken advocate for legalization. the DEA targeted him because he used profits from his business to end prohibition. very few seed banks do that. they profit off prohibition, but do nothing to end it. wonder why that is?
