iStock 000002974630XSmall 205x300 The Facts On “Fake Marijuana?”It seems a bit early in the process to me for news organizations to be claiming they have all the facts on so-called “fake weed.” Anecdotal evidence shows that K2, or Spice, tends to be a much harsher experience for people than cannabis.

I’m sure a lot of study will be done on K2 while states rush to ban the substance – an action that will have as much effect as all other prohibitions – and that’s fine. Study is good, but what I’ve always had a problem with is this constant association between K2 and cannabis. I understand that it’s technically “synthetic cannabis,” and throwing the word marijuana on something will help it sell better, but it does a disservice to a wonderful and healing plant that is grown naturally.

If you have a Vespa scooter, do you refer to it as your “fake car?” After all, it has an engine and runs on gas, right? Of course not. Whatever K2 is, it is not cannabis. When you can grow a K2 plant in a pot of dirt, then we’ll revisit the discussion.

The idiots in Indiana are at it.
Stroking pen is the state sport.
Going along with the “synthetic cannabis” spin is not the way to get morons to see truth, unfortunately.

This September I was visiting Bucharest, Romania on holiday. As I was making my way to the old town I noticed a shop called the “Bulldog Coffee Shop”. It had a whole bunch of Marijuana leaves on the window and looked like something that, being a regular pot smoker, was right up my street.

I went inside and bought two 0.25g bags of what the lady inside assured me was the strongest they had. It set me back 70 RON (about 22USD). I’d never tried spice before and having heard of it I was intrigued. I walked about 500m until I was off the road, rolled a joint and smoked with a friend of mine. We both got slightly buzzed but it was nothing special and needless to say I was dissapointed however I still had another bag of different stuff so I wasn’t too miffed. The joint was a little harsh and tasted disgusting.

Later that night I smoked outside my hotel window and it SUCKED. It was harsh (I smoke with tobbacco, but this was unusually unpleasant), tasted vile and the smoke smelled like chemicals.

One hour later I developed the nastiest, most disgusting and phlegmy cough I have ever had. As a seasoned cigarette smoker I knew it wasn’t because of the tobbacco and I hadn’t smoked real weed for a week. Naturally I blamed spice and I’m almost certain that that was the cause. This cough lasted one month (ending only after I used medication) and annoyed the hell out of me.

Spice sucks and I paid for my stupidity.
