A man in Florida was arrested Saturday morning after police found him passed out in his truck. Police say the strong odor of cannabis was coming from the truck and that dogs alerted to the presence of drugs. They found 242 grams of marijuana, plus Xanax and some cash.
Judging by the mug shot, there can be little doubt this guy was stoned. He apparently tried to flee from police on foot and was tackled. A convicted felon, he no doubt knew his punishment won’t be light in a state like Florida.
But the main point I want to make about this story is one that I stress every chance I get; if you are a cannabis user in a state where it is illegal for you to be a cannabis user, it is imperative that you keep out of the path of law enforcement. Stay under the radar, out in left field, whatever cliche you want to use. Don’t pass out in your truck on a public street, especially if you have over 8 ounces of marijuana in your vehicle.
It seems like common sense, but some must be reminded of these things on occasion.

[...] As I’ve said before, it is imperative that one keep their illegal cannabis use away from the prying eyes of law enforcement. Leave your stash at home. And at all costs, avoid taking your marijuana through security checkpoints. These are people whose job it is to make sure you don’t get past them with anything illegal. Don’t tempt fate, or the criminal justice system. Leave your stash at home. [...]
Why stretch it out to 242 grams? Why not about 9 ounces? Trying to exaggerate…
Legalize It.
