Man Shot Trying to Steal Marijuana

During an apparent robbery attempt in Fresno, CA a man was shot in the head by the robberies target. According to Fresno police the suspects were looking for cannabis.
What really bothered me about this story was the reaction of one of the neighbors.
The owner of a nearby floral shop does not care if it’s legal or not, she says it’s like leaving a bowl of candy in front of a bunch of kids. Donna Brown said, “I don’t think they should be allowed to grow it like that in the neighborhood like this. I mean this neighborhood’s full of people and kids and what do you think they’re going to do? They’re going to try to pick it.”
Using this logic, anyone with large amounts of cash, jewelry, or electronics should be forced from the neighborhood too. It is this kind of faulty logic and short-sightedness that creates an aura “danger” around medical cannabis. I wonder how much cash the owner of the floral shop usually has on hand. Might be a tempting target to some unscrupulous criminals; maybe it should be shut down and moved elsewhere, like a decaying industrial zone on the outskirts of the city.
