TV Review: Weeds – Season 6 – Episode 2

This week the Botwin family is on the run, heading north when this episode begins (see clips below). Nancy knows that people will be looking for them; namely Esteban and law enforcement. Nancy has no plan other than to get as far away from the scene of the crime as possible.
To escape their pursuers, the Botwins have to go “off the grid.” A skill at which Andy excels. New clothes, new looks, new identification; they need to be new people altogether. The Botwins must be put aside so the Newmans can be born. As foreshadowed by Episode 1, Silas is not happy with these new arrangements and tries to rebel. Hes tired of having to follow his crazy family around on their adventures, and I suspect he’s a little freaked out by his brother Shane. But as the dutiful first son he remains in the fold, tied to his family for better or worse.
Nancy soon learns that the FBI is looking for her, along with her husband. A plan to go to Canada is thwarted by a lack of a birth certificate for the littlest Botwin/Reyes, as well as a voicemail warning from the FBI not to leave the U.S. So the Botwins get fake ID’s and become the Newmans, the Pacific Northwest’s newest family. Their old identities burned ceremoniously in a trash can, the Newmans are ready to begin their new lives.
