Paris Hilton Case Not Open And Shut Say Experts

Legal experts say that even though Paris Hilton was arrested for cocaine possession last week in Las Vegas, she’s not wearing an orange jumpsuit just yet. They say the prosecutor must prove that the purse the cocaine was found in belonged to Paris (something she denies, according to reports).
[Well known defense attorney Dmitry] Gorin said Hilton’s legal team may also challenge the cause for the search in the first place. Police said they pulled over the SUV that Hilton was in after smelling marijuana fumes.
He said that if her legal team can raise questions about whether the marijuana smell came from her SUV, they could get the evidence tossed out. Gorin said ultimately if prosecutors do succeed in convicting Hilton, the punishment would mostly likely involve drug diversion.
Seriously, how much of the Vegas strip smells like marijuana on a regular basis? I’m willing to bet it’s a frequent occurrence. It would be impossible to ascertain where that smell came from unless it became overwhelming when police approached the car. Even then, it’s only their word that says there was a marijuana smell at all.
Paris has the money to hire some good lawyers, and she should be able to get out of this. But she can’t be this lucky all the time; maybe she should start partying at home.
