iStock 000010734269XSmall3 300x199 Only 41 Los Angeles Dispensaries Allowed To Remain OpenIn a surprising move, Los Angeles officials announced today that only 41 medical marijuana dispensaries are going to be allowed to stay open.

Yamileth Bolanos, who runs PureLife Alternative Wellness Center, found out that the city had determined her dispensary was not eligible to continue to operate. “I’m not going to take this lying down,” she said. “This is ridiculous. They have screwed up one thing after another. Not once have they thought about the patients of Los Angeles.”

Los Angeles is already tangling with about 85 dispensaries that have filed almost 30 lawsuits challenging the procedure the City Council adopted Jan. 26 to limit the number of dispensaries. Most of the dispensaries that have sued are among more than 400 ordered to shut down.

Seriously? Not only are officials not thinking about patients, they aren’t thinking about themselves. This could cause a meltdown of the economic situation in the city. All these dispensary workers will join the already swelling ranks of the unemployed. Tax revenue will plummet. The masses of the disaffected will know who to blame; whoever is in power.

The incredible economic stupidity of closing 700 functioning businesses in a down economy is off the charts. What kind of political death wish to these people have? The city council of Los Angeles has sentenced the city to a devastating recession, if not worse. They have sentenced medical marijuana patients to more misery. And they have sentenced themselves to political obscurity.

    Great article ,

700 empty storefronts probably employed close to 2100 people minimal, probably closer to 5000 .out of work.

prop 215 clearly states “safe access”

when city attorneys and city council members take this narrow road they will get sued , lose the case at great expense to the taxpayers , oh that’s right they cant even balance a budget.

The city’s like Oakland , Sf, SJ even Denver Colorado have friendly MMJ laws and reap the benefits . people are employed , rents are paid patients are at home with safe access.

After watching the city council debate the zoning issues It was obvious some council members dont support medical cannabis .
    “not in my neighborhood”

    “not around my kids”

Rosendhal was the only 1 trying to stop this.

There is going to be a lot of angry , unemployed people who have been hit hard by these bullshit ordinances.

I wonder how long it will take to re-call all the workers who thwart the will of the voters.
