Medical Marijuana Ad On TV

Sacramento, California TV station KTXL is running what is believed to be the first ever television ad for a medical cannabis dispensary. Marijuana is never shown in the ad, which features testimonials from medical cannabis patients.
Marijuana is not shown in the advertisement, and the word “marijuana” is never used. Instead, patients and the ad itself refer to pot as “cannabis.”
Well, imagine that. Seems fitting though since “cannabis” is the actual name of the plant and “marijuana” is something anti-cannabis forces came up with in the 1930′s; a foreign sounding word they could demonize and tie into the “evil” actions of the “blacks” and “Mexicans.” In fact, we here at The 420 Times use the words cannabis and marijuana interchangeably to show that both are the same, wonderful healing plant. Marijuana is our word now, and it’s a good thing.
And that fact that a TV station is showing an ad for a dispensary sets a good precedent. Now no other stations can say no one has done it before and they don’t want to be the first. Television is ultimately about money, and these ads will find a home if the money is right. So if you run a TV station, don’t be afraid. Cannabis is the wave of the future; you don’t want to be left behind.

This is GREAT! We here in the Inland Empire have had a commercial on late night for a smoke shop that caters to MMJ, so this is the next evolutionary step. Matter of fact, commercials for a MMJ have been a topic of discussion around my house, (where we have been entertaining the idea of opening a delivery service), ranging from “Why Not” to “It might violate FCC regs” since the FCC is a Federal agency…..
