Citizens Outspending Cops On CA Prop 19

New figures show that the Prop 19 campaign received 5 times more money over a three-month period than anti-Prop 19 forces.
Oakland businessperson Richard Lee‘s Oaksterdam University chipped in at least $40,000 during the reporting period and total overall contributions from the school now total $1.46 million. Medical cannabis groups like Berkeley Patients Group and delivery service The CannyBus also have donated funds. Jeff Wilcox and his marijuana cultivation corporation AgraMed, who pushed for cultivation permits in Oakland, donated to Proposition 19 as well as Councilwoman Nancy Nadel, who gave $125. NORML’s Dale Gieringer gave more than $10,000, while George Zimmer of the Men’s Warehouse contributed another $500 to his total contributions of $20,500.
The large volume of contributions came from hundreds of regular citizens across the state and country who are employed as teachers and engineers. One Stinson Beach. resident listed his occupation as “alchemist.”
On the other hand, California law enforcement’s official opposition group only received roughly $61,000 during the months of April, May, and June. This doesn’t mean the vote is in the bag. Not only does cannabis has a decades-old stigma to overcome, but the anti-Prop 19 forces have some big names with them, including Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein, and Meg Whitman. I would have to assume their musings against the measure are free of charge.
But freedom is something that speaks to the very core of us all. That’s why regular citizens are giving so much to Prop 19 – even citizens who don’t live in CA. A chance to defeat prohibition in any way possible is a cause many feel the need to get behind, despite the stigma.
Just as a personal aside, I see those Men’s Warehouse commercials all the time where I live in KY. Now George Zimmer is my favorite new men’s apparel retailer Way to go, George.

Sorry for my frustrated tone, but With this story, it would sound like the citizenry put the most money in. of course in sheer dollars, the writers (number one benefactors) of the bill contributed the most, namely Jeff Wilcox and Richard Lee ( who is Oaksterdam U- after all). Not surprisingly, the new management at NORML makes you think they have taken a new direction -the corporatization of Marijuana, maybe they are making money off this deception as well. And of course the council woman who received such generous contributions from Rich Lee and his ilk gave a nominal contribution.
But really, people need to realize, this bill will supersede prop 215 that we worked so hard for and it will replace it with cronyism. It just sickens me. Check this out.
