Reader Poll Results: Is Growing Cannabis Child Abuse?

Last week The 420 Times asked you if you thought growing marijuana in a home with children present should be considered child abuse. An overwhelming 92% of you said no. Only 2% said it should be classified as child abuse, while 6% were not sure.
Let me state categorically that I do not believe growing cannabis should be considered child abuse. Putting marijuana growing on the same level as manufacturing meth in your home or baking crack in your microwave is not only dangerous, it is downright ignorant. True, you don’t want small children around a plant that can provide medicine to so many, but only because you don’t want them to damage it.
Some will say that growing marijuana in your home will make you more prone to robberies, therefore putting your children in danger; I beg to differ. There is zero proof that cannabis growing makes you more susceptible to crime. Besides, security systems and dogs can be purchased by any homeowner or renter.
We can all fall prey to crime, but growing a non-toxic plant in your home in no way constitutes child abuse.
